If the Supreme Court rules Trump's tariffs illegal, the US will owe trillions of dollars in payback to companies and countries.
"The actual numbers that we have to pay back if for any reason the Supreme Court were to rule against the United States of America on tariffs would be many hundreds of billions of dollars. And that doesn't include the amount of payback that countries and companies would require for their investments they are making to build plants, factories, equipment for the purpose of being able to avoid the payment on said tariffs. That's a key underlying factor here. Now, when these investments are added, we're talking about trillions of dollars. It'd be a complete mess."
