ICICI Bank increased the minimum average monthly balance for new savings accounts in metro and urban branches to 50,000 rupees starting August 1st, 2025.
"New savings accounts in metro and urban branches will require an average monthly balance of 50,000 rupees up from 10,000 rupees."
ICICI Bank will charge a penalty of 500 rupees or 6% of the shortfall (whichever is lower) for not maintaining the minimum balance in new savings accounts.
"If the minimum balance is not maintained, the bank will charge 500 rupees or 6% of the shortfall, whichever is lower."
